Computer vision is about teaching computers to understand images or video, just like a human. A computer vision algorithm, once fed an image of a soccer game, perhaps, may recognize the number of humans in the image, the ball, and the grass. A particularly strong algorithm may even approximate the ages and gender of the players. These insights that we gain from computer vision can then be used to make decisions and take actions.
Thus computer vision involves analyzing and responding to visual stimuli.
